Moreover, we treat nail problems, skin conditions, and other common childhood foot concerns. Early diagnosis and personalised care can help prevent small issues from becoming lifelong problems.

What Happens During Your First Appointment?

At your first visit, we want to help you understand your foot health as clearly as possible. Here is what usually happens during an appointment:

  • Medical & Lifestyle Assessment

We begin by discussing the following:

    • Your medical history
    • Current medications
    • Previous foot problems
    • Daily activities
    • Occupation
    • Exercise and sporting activities

By learning about your overall health, we can find out what might be causing your symptoms.

  • Discussion of Your Symptoms

    We will ask questions about:

    • When your pain started
    • What makes it better or worse
    • Previous treatments
    • Your goals for treatment

This helps us figure out exactly what’s causing your discomfort.

  • Comprehensive Physical Examination

Depending on your needs, your checkup may include:

    • Skin and nail examination
    • Vascular assessment (blood circulation)
    • Neurological assessment (nerve function)
    • Biomechanical assessment
    • Foot posture assessment
    • Walking and gait analysis
    • Muscle strength testing
    • Joint range of motion assessment

If additional information is required, we may recommend diagnostic imaging or other medical investigations.

  • Diagnosis & Personalised Treatment Plan

After your assessment, your podiatrist will explain your diagnosis. Together, you will create a treatment plan customised to your needs and long-term foot health.

Diabetic Foot Assessments

Foot care is an essential part of diabetes management. At our clinics, we offer thorough foot assessments for people with diabetes. These help us spot any risks early and lower the chance of serious problems.

For patients with diabetes:

  • During your first visit, we will do a full foot assessment.
  • At each regular appointment, we will also check your feet.
  • We recommend a full diabetic review every year, or more often if you are at higher risk.

By checking your feet regularly, we can catch changes in circulation, nerve problems, pressure spots, wounds, and other issues before they become serious.

Fungal Nail & Skin Infection Treatment

Our podiatrists diagnose and create treatment plans for common fungal infections, such as:

  • Tinea Pedis (Athlete's Foot)
  • Onychomycosis (Fungal Nail Infection)

Treatment options may include topical or oral medications chosen for your specific infection. We also offer advice on hygiene and suggest changes to your footwear to help you get better results. We will talk with you about long-term steps to help prevent fungal infections from coming back.

Ingrown Toenail & Nail Surgery

Most ingrown toenails can be treated during regular podiatry visits, but if the problem keeps coming back or is very severe, nail surgery might be needed. We provide nail surgery when it is the right choice for your situation.

This includes procedures such as the following:

  • Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA)
  • Total Nail Avulsion (TNA)

Your podiatrist will talk with you about all the possible treatments and decide if nail surgery is the best option for you.

How Often Should You See a Podiatrist?

The frequency of appointments depends on your individual needs. For many patients requiring ongoing maintenance, appointments are typically recommended every 6 to 10 weeks.

Seeing your podiatrist regularly can help you:

  • Prevent painful nail problems
  • Control calluses and corns
  • Monitor diabetic foot health
  • Detect issues before they worsen
  • Maintain comfortable, healthy feet year-round

Your podiatrist will suggest how often you should come in, based on your foot health and what you want to achieve.
